The Aqtual Offering
AQTUAL provides:
- A complete end-to-end package that includes sourcing, design, programming, personalization, and distribution.
- Custom-designed algorithms and circuits in the chips that make the AQTUAL ICE BOX much more difficult for hackers to understand, copy or break.
- Security systems that include encrypted customer information, rigorous employee screening, and careful information management.
- On-site security teams, protected networks, and a comprehensive security program.
- Proven capacity in the design and manufacture of customer premise equipment.
- Innovative distribution solutions which integrate with the platform’s business plan for roll-outs.
Aqtual sees an opportunity in this market to position itself as a company with products designed for the Indian consumer. Key elements of all systems are: state-of-the-art design, low cost open hardware designs, ruggedised for Indian operating conditions.
The USP's of the Aqtual solution are:
- The Aqtual Set-top box provides for full functionality required in a modern CAS:
- Channel selection, on screen display, unique fingerprint, wildcard addressibility, remote control
- Low-cost set-top boxes, head-end equipment and SMS
- Highly secure. Encryption algorithm uses multiple techniques that vary over a period of time. At the same time the SMS runs on a customized-Linux box, restricting the operating staff to the defined functionality
The high security encryption, addressable CAS Set Top Boxes have been specially designed to meet all the current and future requirements of cable operators who need a low cost solution.
Additionally, the head-end equipment and the subscriber management system (SMS) have also been built to operate in Indian conditions.
The Aqtual system uses state-of-the art technology to offer the full functions of a CAS set-top box. The system targets low cost cable operations, which may not have been able to decide on a particular addressable pay-TV system due to the high costs involved.
While current products have been built for analogue delivery systems, digital delivery systems are also being developed.
We believe that Aqtual can offer the most cost-effective conditional access system available today in overcoming the increased attempts in video piracy.
Aqtual incorporates state-of-the-art digital processing inside the encoder and set-top terminal. Aqtual incorporates a specially developed encryption technique using a high security 128-bit algorithm, used in conjunction with a high degree of randomness in providing increased protection than the outdated sync-suppression systems. Complex security is provided as almost each line in a frame is randomly manipulated at any point in time.
The installation of Aqtual simply involves inserting a, Aqtual video encoder after each source channel that is required to be encoded. The operator then supplies a RF decoder set top box to the subscriber that simply fits between the CATV drop or wall outlet and the existing TV. The Aqtual headend encoder interfaces directly with most standard video modulators found in CATV headends. The encoded channel is then transmitted throughout a normal cable network, without the need of existing headend hardware units being replaced.
The Aqtual control data is carried in-band on a selectable VBI line on each encoded channel, eliminating the need to sacrifice a valuable additional RF channel for data carriage.
The selection of encrypted channels is entirely at the operator's discretion; up to 120 channels can be secured with the Aqtual system to provide Free-to-air, premium and PPV services.
The Aqtual CAS has been designed to incorporate the best from the digital and analog worlds. It uses advanced, state-of-the-art digital circuitry in an open-design to manipulate the video into a highly encrypted signal. This signal is completely obscure and extremely secure.
The encryption technique utilizes complex "random number-based" algorithms to ensure that it cannot be ever broken.
